It’s time to celebrate your holiday in a different way!
We don’t need to explain this to those who live consciously. Given the immense climate change, the era of pure consumption is over. But how do we move forward? It takes practice and, above all, engaging in conversations with like-minded individuals to explore and shape a new mindset with different choices. And where better to do this than at ECOlonie? We invite you to help shape this beautiful, evolving place in a way that suits you.
You can contribute by working in the gardens, the kitchen, or even by preserving food. Or, if you prefer to prepare your own meals, you can cook entirely organic dishes, making use of our fresh vegetables, eggs, cheese, dairy, and other organic products from our shop.
Can you envision it and accept this challenge?
Working together, growing together
Last year, our call to guests to join in and help out bore fruit. With enthusiasm, they assisted in the garden, with the dishes, in the kitchen, picking and stripping basil, peeling garlic, washing eggs, and much more. They shared with us how much they enjoyed contributing in this way and how much they appreciated the credit they earned. But what made it truly valuable for them was experiencing how our community works by actively participating. The conversations during the work, the connections, and the insight into the tasks made it a truly special experience for them.
In addition to the adults, a similar number of children also eagerly helped out. For example, with the dishes—where we had a very enthusiastic group! They also pitched in the garden, with luggage transport, and with various other tasks.
How does it work?
This year, you can once again actively contribute to Gaia Collectief ECOlonie in this way. So here’s our call: during your stay, join us for a few hours to help in the garden, with the dishes, and at many other spots! Whether you’re young (from 16 years old) or older, there’s always something to do. Of course, we understand if this isn’t possible due to your personal circumstances. We sincerely hope for a positive response, and we believe this will provide you with another special and enjoyable stay at ECOlonie!
Each week, a list of tasks will be posted on the bulletin board. Most tasks are done in 2-hour blocks. We kindly ask you to sign up so we can coordinate your contribution with the current needs.
If you have more time
If you have the time and willingness to work for a few hours a day over several days, there are tasks that require a bit more time to learn. Based on your situation and what you can and want to contribute, we’ll figure out how we can make this work together. Once you’ve worked more than 16 hours, we’ll give you a voucher based on €5 per hour worked, which you can use in our shop "La Vie Verte," the Orangerie, the Tea House, the "Le Papillon" workshop, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or towards your accommodation. For children between 12 and 16 years old, the minimum number of hours is 12, and they will receive a voucher of €2 per hour.
If you're interested, please contact Els via email (els@ecolonie.eu).
We rely on your support and hope that, in this way, we can provide you with another special and enjoyable stay at ECOlonie.
Organic food
The meals we serve to guests with full board or those dining at the Orangerie are entirely organic, with a focus on using products from our own vegetable, fruit, and herb gardens, bakery, cheese factory, and from our chickens. While we strive for self-sufficiency, we are not entirely self-sustaining. Therefore, we source additional organic products from local farmers, bakers, and when needed, from an organic wholesaler.
As a camping guest, you can also enjoy fully organic food: our shop offers a wide range of organic products, and depending on availability, we also sell vegetables, fruit, and herbs from our gardens.
